The Challenge:

The Motorsport Lab, a business-to-business media agency, offers consumers ultimate driving experiences in luxury supercars (think Ferrari, Lamborghini and Aston Martin) in Boston and Phoenix. In 2010, owner Ray Chang was looking to promote his business to new customers so he decided to run his first Groupon deal. Ray sold a total of 3,000 Groupons. On the first day, the three staff members who were managing appointments via a Google spreadsheet stayed up until 3:00AM handling calls and responding to emails. Due to the large volume of bookings, it was clear that scheduling appointments in Google would be cumbersome and the entire experience left Ray and his colleagues frustrated and overwhelmed.

The Solution:

The day after their unexpectedly successful Groupon promotion, Ray implemented Genbook, a fully featured online appointment scheduling software and small business marketing solution. Ray’s team saw an immediate positive impact from Genbook as customers began to easily schedule appointments online in real-time at their convenience. Genbook’s Credit Card Capture feature was a major improvement to their existing practice of writing down card numbers by hand. Customers could now enter their credit card information quickly and securely while scheduling their appointments, ensuring that The Motorsport Lab’s records were accurate.

After a few months of smooth appointment scheduling, Ray noticed that Genbook’s Verified Customer Review feature was attracting more new customers and growing his business. The Results:

  • An up-to-date database of thousands of customers and their appointment history.
  • A fully automated scheduling system that saves The Motorsport Lab $50,000 per year in staffing expense.
  • The Motorsport Lab and Genbook were featured in Entrepreneur Magazine in March 2012.
